Kinetix founder and lead therapist Renato Hess
earned a Master of Science degree with an emphasis on Physical Therapy
in 2001 from the University of Central Arkansas. For nearly a decade,
Hess has had hands-on experience treating patients with musculoskeletal
dysfunction, sports-related injuries, chronic pain, cervicogenic
headaches, multiple sclerosis (MS), vestibular rehab, post-op orthopedic
surgeries, stroke, spinal cord injury, fibromyalgia, complex regional
pain syndrome (CRPS) and home-health care issues. Hess has also
researched the McKenzie Method (a comprehensive approach to treating
spinal issues) and was clinically trained in its techniques as a
student.
Hess has worked throughout the United States
via contract assignments in the Veterans’ Administration (VA) system,
inpatient rehabilitation, home health, non-profits, skilled nursing
facilities as well as several outpatient facilities. Prior to founding
Kinetix, Hess worked at the Rehab Institute of Chicago in the pain
management center, renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to
treating chronic pain for gaining function and quality of life.
Spanish-speaking patients can feel comfortable
with Hess’s ability to obtain a proper history and run physical therapy
sessions entirely in Spanish without an interpreter. Hess worked for
months teaching English and providing physical therapy in San Carlos,
Costa Rica through Cross-Cultural Solutions at and Hogar de Anciones and
CAIPAD, a facility for disabled adults that teaches skills to integrate
them into the community.
